A New Chapter of Care and Hope

As we enter this season of gratitude, we are delighted to share important news from Mengo Hospital—progress made possible entirely through your generosity and steadfast support.
In late October, our Board Chair, Dr. Bill Chin, visited Kampala and participated in a soft dedication of the new Child Care Center at Mengo Hospital. This beautiful, purpose-built facility—now about ninety percent complete—consists of several renovated buildings on the hospital campus. When fully furnished in early 2026, it will open its doors to serve the young infants of Mengo’s nursing mothers, allowing them to return to work after their maternity leave with confidence and peace of mind.
The dedication was a joyful gathering of mothers, fathers, their babies, senior and junior staff, clergy, and leaders including Drs. Simon and Rhoda, Joel Oroni, and our local project manager Dr. Nathan Kibwami. The design and build team from LocalWorks also joined in celebrating this milestone. All expressed heartfelt gratitude for this new resource that will strengthen the Mengo community for years to come.
This Child Care Center will benefit up to sixty children and stands as far more than a practical support for working families—it is a symbol of what we can achieve together. Its completion confirms that Mengo Hospital Partners (MHP) can collaborate effectively in Kampala, with strong understandings, reliable oversight, and trusted relationships with hospital leadership. It is a powerful proof of principle as we now turn toward Phase 2: the new Pediatric and Outpatient Department Building, a transformational project that will expand and modernize care for the children of Kampala and beyond.
During his visit, Dr. Chin also toured the temporary facilities now housing radiology, the emergency ward, and adult outpatient services—further underscoring Mengo’s urgent need for expanded, modern clinical space.
Your generosity makes possible Mengo Hospital’s mission to deliver compassionate, life-saving healthcare to the children and families of Kampala. As we look toward 2026—a decisive year for launching Phase 2—we invite you to consider a year-end gift to help us build the new Pediatric and Outpatient Department Building.
Every contribution, large or small, brings us closer to a healthier future for countless children. Thank you for standing with us. Together, we can make a lasting difference.
